Braidwood.

A National Trust-classified town, Braidwood is perched high in the Southern Tablelands.  An easy 1hour drive east of Canberra you will find its streets brimming with travellers stopping for a lunch break or to browse the antique stores. 

Renowned for its charming colonial buildings, rustic streetscape and rural beauty the town boasts a fascinating history dating back to the gold rush era of the 1850’s.

About the town

The current population is around 1700. Braidwood is a service town for the surrounding district which is based on sheep and cattle grazing, and forestry operations.

The town offers a well-stocked IGA Supermarket with a large variety of all the same well-known food brands available in Metropolitan centres.  If you’re in search of a delicious meal and quality coffee, Braidwood has that covered also, you will be spoilt for choice with a great selection of cafes.

Leading education opportunities

Living in Braidwood provides doctors and health professionals with access to world-leading NSW public school education system at Braidwood Central School which caters to students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

There is also the option of sending children to board during the week or for the term at the prestigious Frensham Boarding School, or Snowy Mountains Grammar School providing a pathway to some of the world's leading universities located in Australia.

From bushwalking and birdwatching to dining out and gallery hopping, Braidwood is a popular place for adventure, closely situated to the beautiful ancient rainforest walk along the Penance Grove Track.

Truffle hunting is a popular pastime in this beautiful NSW village area.  Visit the award-winning Terra Preta Truffle Farm and go truffle hunting with their dogs!

Located just an hour by car from Canberra Airport offering regular flights to all major cities including Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
